Their beauty is matched by their vulnerability; native bluebells are protected in the UK, and it is illegal to uproot them from the wild. Trampling can take years for them to recover, making these brief displays all the more precious.

Measures 140 × 190 mm (5.5 X 7.5 inches) , unmounted and unframed, painted on lightly textured Saunders Waterford 200gsm paper, this mixed media work is part cyanotype toned with a hibiscus tea botanical steep. I recommend UV glass when framing.

I have used Spanish Bluebells in my work as native Bluebells are a protected species. I am careful to only collect from an abundant flower source and do not take wildflowers that are endangered, I use naturally broken or windfall pieces or plants that I grow to use specifically in my art.
