This botanically toned cyanotype and watercolour features nigella, scabious, and ragwort seed. As I dip the paper through water, the washes of colour soften, fade, and run down the page. That release is one of the most cathartic parts of my process—a quiet act of letting go, echoing the fragile beauty of the meadows themselves.
Inspired by our disappearing wildflower meadows, we have lost an estimated 97% of them in the last century, yet the meadows that remain are vital for pollinators, biodiversity, and storing carbon in the soil.
These landscapes are so much more than beautiful—they’re essential. I hope this piece is a small reminder of why they’re worth protecting.

Measures 275× 375 mm (11 X 15 inches) , unmounted and unframed, painted on lightly textured Saunders Waterford 200gsm paper, this mixed media work is part cyanotype toned with a hibiscus tea botanical steep - which may change slightly overtime, finished with light fast mineral pigment artisan pan watercolour. I recommend UV glass when framing.
I am careful to only collect from an abundant flower source and do not take wildflowers that are endangered, I use naturally broken or windfall pieces or plants that I grow to use specifically in my art.
